Hints & Tips

  • Did you know that the DFP-D3000 has an automatic Theatre Diagnostics feature? Ask your installer to put a microphone in a fixed spot in the auditorium and connect it to the MIC2 input. Once your installer has taken a ‘foot print’ of the audio response, you can verify that all speakers and amplifiers are working every day, at the press of a button!

  • Did you know that SDDS is compressed with the Sony designed ATRAC compression system, the only compression algorithm for film, which combines psycho acoustics with a moderate compression ratio (5:1)?

  • Do you know how to access the serial number from the front panel of the DFP-D2000? Open the front panel door, press EXIT, EDIT, F3, then F1. You can access the serial number from the front panel on a DFP-D3000 by pressing the down arrow, menu, press select twice then press the left arrow.

  • One of the best and easiest preventative maintenance tips for your SDDS Readers is to purchase a can of compressed air and use it regularly to keep the reader free from accumulated dust, film wax and other debris.

  • To maintain consistent top results from your SDDS playback equipment, regularly clean the reader’s optics - the two CCD lenses and the two light sources. Gently dust off any accumulated material with a clean dry cotton swab. It is important to avoid using any chemicals or solvents on the optics.
